HARTFORD, Ky. — Catherine “Shirley” Fassnacht Monroe, 84, of Hartford, passed away Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Hartford. She was born on Jan. 31, 1935, in Fowler, Indiana, to the late William Fassnacht and Cora May Yarno Fassnacht.
Mrs. Monroe was a homemaker and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Along with her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, William L. “Bill” Monroe, who passed in August of 1993; her brothers, Charles, Bernard, Edward, and Robert; and her stepgrandchildren, Jeremy Russell and Nicky Bratcher.
Catherine is survived by her children, Connie (Bill) Jordan, Mike (Renie) Monroe, Shelley (Tim) Hunt, and Robert (Darlene) Monroe; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Sarah, Aaron, Deana, Sheyann, Julie, and Kayla; and 19 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Fr. Julio Barrera officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Miller Schapmire Funeral Home and again 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
