ALTAMONT, Kan. — Terri M. Ashby, 61, of rural Altamont, passed away at 12:53 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.

On Nov. 23, 1957, Terri Margaret Ashby was born to Robert and Violet (Lutz) Ashby in Hartford, Kentucky. Terri grew up in Hartford and graduated from Ohio County High School in 1975.

She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting in 1979 from Linn Technical College in Linn, Missouri.

Throughout her life, Terri worked in accounting and taxes. She lived in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, for 12 years. In 2001, she moved to Altamont and had lived there since.

Terri loved her family and her dog, “Peanut”. Terri was a very active person who enjoyed art, doing crafts, fishing, caring for her chickens, collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, working at the food pantry, doing word games and had recently learned how to swim.

She married Richard T. Nabours Sr. in 1975. The couple later divorced. Terri married Kenneth Lee Strader and they later divorced.

Gaylan Rankins was Terri’s longtime companion and he also preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; companion, Gaylen Rankins; one son, Richard T. Nabours, Jr.; one granddaughter, Madisyn Elizabeth Nabours; and two nieces, Violet Maurita Ashby and Tiffany Michelle Howard.

Survivors include, two sons, Alan Nabours, of Hartford, Kentucky, Brian Nabours, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; six grandchildren; four brothers, Bobby Ashby, of Hartford, Timmy Ashby, of Hartford, Mark Ashby, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Jeff Ashby, of Hartford; six sisters, Carolyn Sue Blackburn, of Osage Beach, Missouri, Angela Lutz, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Beverly Hardin, of Hartford, Julieana Jean Rhea, of Bonnots Mill, Missouri, Jennifer Ashby, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sally Phillips, of Linn, Missouri; and step-mother, Nancy Ashby, of Linn.

Terri will be cremated and services will be a graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 3 p.m. at Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Local arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Altamont, Kansas.
