McDANIELS, Ky. — Ernie Thompson, 50 of McDaniels, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019 at Breckinridge Health. He was born in Washington, D.C., April 28, 1969, to William Jacob and Viona Cutliff Thompson.
Ernie was a Mason with Hudsonville Lodge and a member of Iron Legacy Motorcycle Club in McDaniels. He was a self-employed mechanic and enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, shooting sports, working on anything that did not run and getting it up and going – better known as a tinkerer. He loved time with his family especially his grandson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Verbal Thompson, and Lucille Tucker.
Ernie is survived by his wife, Gina Morrison Thompson, of McDaniels; son, Will (Caitie) Thompson, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; daughter, Samantha Thompson (Scott Ratliff), of McDaniels; one grandson, Eli Thompson; two stepgrandchildren, James Chrostufor and Wyllo Ratliff; parents, Jake and Vi Thompson, of McDaniels; brother, Tom (Aundrea) Thompson, of McDaniels; sister, Sarah (Jared) Kinder, of McDaniels; two nieces, Jaci (Aaron) Whitfill and Darian Thompson; and one great-niece, Ayla Whitfill.
Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Friday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Gary Woosley officiating. Burial will be in the McDaniels Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday after 8 a.m.
