BEAVER DAM, Ky. — James Ewing Read, 72, of Beaver Dam, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, at his home. He was born Feb. 16, 1947, in Butler County, Kentucky, to the late Ralph Rayburn Read and Rosa Nell Brizendine Read.
James had been employed by Young Manufacturing for 34 years and was a faithful member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Beaver Dam. He loved camping and taking his grandkids fishing.
Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Randall Lynn Read, Walter Travis Read, and Ronnie Ray Read, and stepmother, Nora Evelyn Read.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Lois Hall Read, of Beaver Dam; two daughters, Tonya Marie Bradshaw, of Beaver Dam, and Laura Michelle (Gabriel) King, of Leitchfield, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Shalynn K. Bradshaw, Chelsea Marie Bradshaw, Kaitlin LeAnn King, and James Marshall Hunter King; one brother, Ralph Steve (Sally) Read, of Beaver Dam; one sister, Carolyn (Walter) Porter, of Beaver Dam; and one stepbrother, Terry (Edna Lou) Moore, of Horse Branch.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. David Hall and Bro. Matt Alsman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit with Mr. Read’s family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
