HARTFORD, Ky. — William Adam “W.A.” Chancellor, 92, of Hartford, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford. He was born June 27, 1926, in Rockport, Kentucky, to the late Henry Lawrence and Sophia Fulton Chancellor.

W.A. was a graduate of Rockport High School and a member of Centertown Baptist Church.

He began farming at the age of 12 and continued throughout his life. Mr. Chancellor was a United States Army Veteran where he served in occupied Japan during World War II.

In 1951, W.A. began working for Peabody Coal Company as an office manager at Ken Surface Mine, where he later retired. Mr. Chancellor was Past Master, Secretary of Rockport Masonic Lodge #312 F&AM and a member of McHenry Masonic Lodge #800 F&AM.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Chancellor; one grandson, Richard Anthony McConnell; and his sister, Sarah Frances Hall.

Survivors include his children, Clark (Mike Pierce) Chancellor, of Smiths Grove, Kentucky, Melissa (Bill) Kirk, of Crawford, Texas, and Judy (Donald) McConnell, of Henderson, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Tina McConnell Goldman, of Henderson, Angela Kirk (Robert) McMeen, of Cross Roads, Texas, and Nicole Kirk (Jim) Bateman, of Austin, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Taylor, Trey, Ryan, Ethan, Marissa (Eric), Travis, Lawson, and Bennett.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, with Rev. Lealin Geary officiating. Burial will follow in Echols Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Mr. Chancellor’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
