BUTLER COUNTY, Ky. — Jimmy C. Dockery, 71, of the Oak Ridge community in Butler County, passed away Saturday morning, May 4, 2019, at his residence. Jimmy was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Butler County, to the late Squire Bamis and Goldie B. Beasley Dockery. He was the oldest son of eight children.

He attended Zion Harmony General Baptist Church his entire life and was very strong in his faith. Jimmy enjoyed reading his Bible and hearing his grandchildren sing in church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

He loved gardening and being outdoors. Jimmy enjoyed all sports, especially Kentucky Basketball and he retired from Perdue Farms in Cromwell, Kentucky.

Other than his parents he is preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Dockery, and one sister, Nellie Mae Dockery.

Jimmy C. Dockery is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Magie Marie Bates Dockery, of Morgantown, Kentucky; one son, Calvin Dockery and wife, Evelyn, of Morgantown; one daughter, Stacy Marie McCrady and husband, Shannon, of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Shana Ashby and husband, Matt, Ethan Tichenor, Callie Marie Dockery, Isaac Dockery, Jordan McCrady, and Isabella McCrady; three great-grandchildren, Cole and Noah Ashby, and Emerson Hamilton; four sisters Kay, Filback of Morgantown, Allene LaMar and husband, Ellis, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, Mary Bratcher, of Caneyville, Kentucky, and Janie Phelps, and husband, Gary, of Morgantown; two brothers Estil Dockery and wife, Faye, of Beaver Dam, and Pete Dockery and wife, LaDonna, of Morgantown; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Zion Harmony General Baptist Church Tuesday, May 7, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Calvin Dockery, Bro. Dave Bastin and Bro. Ricky Dockery officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Harmony Cemetery where Calvin Dockery, Shannon McCrady, Matt Ashby, Ethan Tichenor, Jordan McCrady and Isaac Dockery will serve as pall bearers. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel and Tuesday 10 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Zion Harmony General Baptist Church.
