SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. — Percy Lee Young Jr., 90, of Shepherdsville, formerly of Morgantown, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his residence. Percy was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, to the late Percy Lee Sr. and Ada H. Young and husband of the late Joy Staples Young.

He was a member of Woodbury Missionary Baptist Church, Cassia Masonic Lodge #272 and Butler County & Rizpah Shrine Club. Percy retired from General Electric in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1989 and was a Korean War Army Veteran.

He loved gardening, hunting, fishing and enjoyed going to Hardee’s in the mornings to drink coffee and fellowship with friends.

Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by two brothers, Harry T. and John B. Young; and two stepdaughters Janice Amos and Melva Jo Chyle.

Percy Lee Young Jr. is survived by one son, Ricky Young, of Shepherdsville; one granddaughter, Amanda A. Young, of Shepherdsville; one grandson, Adam Young, of Prospect, Kentucky; four great-granddaughters, Adilynn Young, of Shepherdsville, Lola Hardison, of Shepherdsville, and Layla and Zoe Young, of LaGrange, Kentucky; two stepdaughters, Cathy McCoy and husband, Tim, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and Ethel Bennett, of Valparaiso, Indiana; stepson, Thomas Staples, of Olaton, Kentucky; stepchildren from his first marriage, Sharon Dotson and Faye Rogers, both of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Dana Smith, of Tampa, Florida, and William Rogers, of Louisville, Kentucky; two nephews, Kenneth Young and wife, Debbie, of Morgantown, and Ronnie Milam, of Bowling Green; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Wednesday, April 24, at 12 p.m. with Bro. Pete Phelps officiating. Burial will be in the Hill Haven Memory Garden where military rights will be presented by the Ohio County AM Vets Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 23, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with Masonic services conducted by Cassia Lodge #272 at 7 p.m. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 24, from 8 a.m. until funeral time at 12 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
