In Obituaries by Dustin Bratcher

Reverend Dr. Sharon “Gigi” Clark Whittinghill

On Wednesday, April 3, 2019 after 75 years of life, the Lord called our beloved sister, aunt, friend and Gigi home.

She retired from W.R. Grace/Daramic. She completed her doctorate in Theology from Midwest Theology Seminary in 2003. She worked with Missions of Love, Hartford, Kentucky, and Trilogy Center for Women, Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

She taught literature to high school students at King’s Word Academy. She was with The International College of Bible Theology and American Mission Teams Evangelistic Organization for over 25 years where she traveled all over the United States until her retirement in 2015.

Sharon loved the Lord above all things and had a true servants’ heart. She was very strong in her faith and a prayer warrior. She was unwavering in allowing the Lord to be the center of her life. She had such welcoming spirit, love and acceptance radiated from her. We are so comforted by her vivid dreams that she would recount that the Lord gave her showing her that He was preparing her heavenly home for her. He showed her that He was bringing her home to Him to dance, sing, and rejoice in His perfect love, and that excited her and gave her so much joy and peace.

She loved her family and she will be sadly missed, but how could we want her to stay knowing what was waiting for her,His faithful servant in Heaven’s reward. We will miss those broccoli casseroles a staple at all family gatherings, she was a lot of things but a cook wasn’t one of them. We can’t be good at everything she would say.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Bernadette Clark; her husband, Joseph Whittinghill; her sister-in-law, Betty Clark; and two nephews, John Clark and Travis Aubrey.

Left to treasure her memory are her brothers, Larry Clark and Dan Clark. She was so grateful to her brothers for sharing their children with her because she thought of all of them as her own children. She absolutely loved being a Gigi. Also surviving, her nieces and nephews, Jackie (Todd) Fulkerson, Tracy (John) King, Krissy (Larry) Aubrey, Jessica (Clint) Quinn, Bob (Kathy) Clark, Mike (Christie) Clark, Jeff (Holly) Clark, and many great-nieces and -nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

She is also survived by her Golden “Sisters” as she liked to refer to them. Every morning she would ring her chimes and say, “Hello ladies!” Sarah Faye Allen, Annette Connor, Denise Baughman, Sheila Murphy, Robin Pullen, Peggy Hicks, Millie Mulligan and Bettie Vaughn.

The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to her caregivers, Sheila, Denise, and Annette for loving her well. Our precious hospice staff, Kim, Kathy, Sarah, Mary and Amy, until we all meet again “Love Remains.”

Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 8, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitations will be at the funeral home Monday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Burial will follow to Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Donations will be to Hospice of Western Kentucky.

Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Reverend Dr. Sharon “Gigi” Clark Whittinghill.
