OWENSBORO, Ky. — Mary Jo Haynes, 71, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. She was born Oct. 1, 1947 in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late John Albert and Mary Cecelia Payne Schartung.

Mary Jo was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and was retired from General Electric. She was a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, and woodworking.

Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Robert Haynes; two sons, Robert Vincent Haynes Jr. and wife, Kim, of Cummins, Georgia, and Michael S. Haynes and wife, Jennifer, of Louisville, Kentucky; three daughters, Karen Adkins, of Fordsville, Kentucky, Karla Ward and husband Daymon, of Owensboro, and Sherry Waldron and husband, Doug, of Newnan, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, Jessica Haynes, Justin Haynes, Robert Haynes, Chris Haynes, Mallari Buchanan, Mason Ward, Madeline Ward, Sydney Haynes, Bailey Haynes, Jesse Haynes, Alex Waldron, Sam Waldron, and Matthew Waldron; one great-grandchild, Jonah Stallings; five brothers, Tom Schartung, of Bristol, Tennessee, Bernard Schartung, of Knottsville, Kentucky, David Schartung ,of Virginia, and Robert Schartung and John Schartung, both of Owensboro; three sisters, Joann Millay, of Stanley, Kentucky, Barbara Hodskins, of Whitesville, Kentucky, and Patricia Luckett, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass for Mary Jo Haynes will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday with prayers at 7 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
