OWENSBORO, Ky. — Doris S. Hurley, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at her home with her family at her side. She was born Nov. 12, 1930, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Herman and Mabel Hoagland Shown.
Doris was a member of Yellow Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Pinkerton Tobacco Company and had served also as a Union Steward. She also had worked at General Electric, had done some catering, and had driven a school bus for the South Spencer School Corporation.
Doris was an avid bowler, enjoyed water skiing, being in the outdoors, and making wedding cakes.
She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Harold Shown and Kenneth Shown.
Surviving are her sons, Jeff Hurley and wife, Tammy, of Owensboro, and Rick Hurley and wife, Pam, of Evansville, Indiana; two grandchildren, Braxton Hurley, of Owensboro, and Nicole Clayton, of Stockholm, Sweden; two sisters, Wanda Snyder, of Drakesboro, Kentucky, and Anna Whitehouse Howard and husband, Richard, of Hammond, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service for Doris Hurley will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Private burial will be in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
