Ophelia ‘Rose’ Simmons Jollay

HARTFORD, Ky. — Ophelia “Rose” Simmons Jollay, 93, of Hartford, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019, at Signature Healthcare of Hartford. Mrs. Jollay was born in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Charles and Mary Louise Higdon Simmons.

She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Beaver Dam, Kentucky, where she played many roles in assisting the church. Rose was a retired medical professional, had a love of animals, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jollay was also preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Lee Jollay, in 1999; first husband, William V. Fry, in 1971; and son, William (Bill) Michael Fry, in 2012.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Brian P. Fry (Ruth), of Summerville, South Carolina; grandchildren, William M. Fry Jr., Shaun Fry (Lorin), Kristen Fry, Kevin Fry, Joseph B. Snyder, and Thomas R. Snyder; 12 great-grandchildren, and a loving extended family.

The funeral mass for Ophelia Jollay will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 6 p.m. Ennichement will take place at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
