OWENSBORO, Ky. — Claude E. Sparks Sr., 80, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Claude was born June 30, 1938, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Vernon Sparks and Helen Mae Cooper Sparks.

He was owner/operator for over 40 years driving with Weaton Van Lines World Wide Moving. Claude was honored with a Safety Award for over 3 million miles of driving accident free.

He was a member of Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church.

Claude enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching sports on TV.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Otis, and Roy Lee Sparks, and two sisters, Barbara Barnett and Dorothy Sparks.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Sparks; a son, Claude Sparks Jr., of Owensboro; a daughter, Lisa (Keith) Blandford, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; two stepgrandsons, Sam and Adam; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
