BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Terry L. Skaggs, 71, of Beaver Dam, passed away Monday, Dec. 10, 2018, at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 10, 1947, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Ivan Skaggs and Maureen Smother Swift.
Mr. Skaggs retired from Green Coal Company and was a member of Word Missionary Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
Aside from his parents, Charles and Maureen Swift and Ivan Skaggs, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Swift and Charles Edward Swift.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Barbara A. Skaggs, of Beaver Dam; son, Terry L. (Stacey) Skaggs Jr., of Beaver Dam; daughter, Charlotte (Kenny) Durbin, of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren, Candace Nicole Skaggs, Richard Skaggs, Shaun Southard, Shane Agee, Kami Jo Simpson, Lucas Hudnell, and Dillon Hudnell; great-granddaughter, Lexi Southard; three brothers, Buddy Swift, of Morgantown, Kentucky, Rocky Swift, of Beaver Dam, and Joe (Shirley) Swift, of Beaver Dam; and five sisters, Cookie Hudson, of Beaver Dam, Fanya Swift, of Morgantown, Brenda Stillwell, of Foley, Alabama, Kathy Whitlow, of Morgantown, and Donna Kay Swift, of Morgantown.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with Bro. Darrell Moran officiating. Burial will follow in Taylormine Cemetery in Beaver Dam, Kentucky with full military honors by Ohio County Honor Guard. Friends may visit with the family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
