BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Maloria Fuqua Casey, 91, of Beaver Dam, passed away Aug. 8, 2018, in Owensboro under the care of Owensboro Regional Hospital. She was born in Fordsville, Kentucky, on Dec. 28, 1926, to the late Hettie Thurman Petty and Oscar Petty.

Maloria was a retired long time teacher and librarian for the Ohio County School System. She had her Master’s Degree in Education. She enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping, spending time at home with her family and taking trips with them to the Smoky Mountains.

She attended the Abundant Life Church in Beaver Dam, and was a member of the former Washington United Methodist Church in Hartford, Kentucky.

She is predeceased by her first husband, G. E. Fuqua Jr.; second husband, Osco Casey; her sisters, Alpha Trogden and Jessie Myers; as well as two brothers, Arnold Petty and Thurman Petty.

Maloria is survived by her long time adopted family, Dennis, Christina, Luke and Lance Shephard, of Beaver Dam, Jessica (Tyler) Deweese, of Horse Branch, Kentucky. She is also survived by her nieces, Katrina (Richard) Frailley, of Hartford, Wilda Puckett, of Hartford, Shirley (Ronnie) Bass, of Beaver Dam, Debra (Kevin) Samples, of Brownsburg, Indiana; and nephews, James (Donna) Trogden, Curtis Trogden, and Earl Trogden, all of Hartford. She also leaves behind several great-nieces and -nephews.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Brother Keith Shephard officiating, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10, at the funeral home and resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday until time of service.
