BUTTONSBERRY, Ky. — G.W. Davis, 88, of Buttonsberry, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Riverside Care and Rehabilitation Center in Calhoun, Kentucky. George William Davis was born Jan. 18, 1930, in Island, Kentucky, to the late William and Nola Wilkey Davis, was married to the former Dortha Lee Smith Aug. 4, 1954, and was better known as “G.W.” to both his family and friends.

G.W. was a self-employed electrician and plumber. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and enjoyed playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents, G.W. was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dortha Lee Davis, who died July 23, 2012.

Survivors include four sons, Maurice Davis (Debbie Peak), of Buttonsberry, Oney Davis, of Whitesville, Kentucky, Tommy “Turtle” Davis, of Owensboro, Kentucky, and Randy Davis (Beverly), of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; a daughter, Adora Monroe, of Buttonsberry; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry Davis, of Island; and a sister, Barbara Felhofer, of Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Embry officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community Cemetery in McLean County with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with G.W.’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at Musters in Livermore.
