DRAKESBORO, Ky. — Norma Jean Sumner, 89, of Hartford, died June 15, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. Norma Jean was born Oct. 24, 1928, to Ruby McNealy Price and Harley Price.

Jean retired from the Muhlenberg County School System as a lunchroom cook and then as secretary of Drakesboro School.

She was also a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church in Russellville, Kentucky.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, George Sumner, Jr., and her parents.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen R. (Mary Anne) Sumner, of Hartford, Mitchell K. (Julie) Sumner, of Greenville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Stephen Michael (Jodi) Sumner, Joel Thomas (Mary) Sumner, of Hartford, Shellie Sumner (Rick) Combs, of McHenry, Kentucky, Matthew K. Sumner, of Hartford, Carrie Sumner (Jon) Ezell, of Jacksonville, Florida, Kyle M. (Ashley) Sumner, of Crestwood, Kentucky, Cameron Sumner (Ben) Walpole, of Lexington, Kentucky, Kent M. Sumner, of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and David (Misty) Shelton, of Greenville, Kentucky; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, J.T. Price, of Evansville, Indiana; and sister, Mildred (Lowell) House, of Russellville.

Funeral services were held Sunday, June 17, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Bro. Craig Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery in Drakesboro.
