In Obituaries by OC Monitor Staff

CENTRAL CITY, Ky. — Robert GDavis, 73, of Owensboro, Kentucky, formerly of Central City, left this world while in the care of the Heartford House and surrounded by his loving family on the morning of April 8, 2018. He was born on July 24, 1944, to the late William “Bill” Davis and Aleene Wheeldon Davis.

Robert spent his life serving in many capacities. He served our great country in the Vietnam War, as an Army crew chief on an armed helicopter, Cobra III, in the 114th Aviation unit.

He also helped “keep the lights on” as a shift supervisor for 38 years at the Kentucky Utilities Power Plant. After his retirement from Kentucky Utilities, he worked at Tucker Funeral Home for 11 years. He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Central City, singing in the choir and always volunteering to help in anyway. If you knew Robert, you knew that he never met a stranger and loved to talk.

He’s survived by his loving wife Carolyn, of Owensboro; three children, Robin (Randy) Bush, of Owensboro, Chris (Marsha Lindsey) Davis, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Jennybeth Anderson (Bryan Whittaker), of Hartford, Kentucky; two stepsons, Jason Vandiver, of Bowling Green, and Jon (Regina) Vandiver, of Maryville, Tennessee; one brother, Foley Davis, of Big Clifty, Kentucky. Robert leaves behind five grandchildren whom he truly adored, Bryant Anderson, Grace Bush, Carson Davis, Cortney Vandiver and Mackenzie Kohnle; one precious great-grandson, Dakota Price; a sister-in-law, Jeanette (Tony) Birch, of Cheney, Washington; and brother-in-law, Doug Heltsley, of Mortons Gap, Kentucky; and special life-long friends, Sue Davis, Sug Anderson, Hank and Roberta Haire.

Special thanks to The Heartford House staff, Dr. McCoy, Dr. Mayron and the caring staff at Wellington Parc in Owensboro.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Dr. James Wedding officiating. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Heartford House Family Kitchen in Owensboro. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
