BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Connell Shultz Maddox, 85, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Jan. 28, 2018, at Beaver Dam Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 23, 1933, to the late Luther Garfield “LG” Shultz and Anna Mae Coleman Shultz.

She was a member of Beaver Dam United Methodist Church.

Connell owned and operated Westerfield Grocery for 30 years. She loved working with the public and caring for everyone. Later in life, she loved going to flea markets, cooking, entertaining the grandkids, and loved watching Kentucky Basketball. She had time to enjoy her grandchildren and enjoyed taking trips to Florida, Utah, and California. While traveling she enjoyed going to the ocean and national parks.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Earl Maddox; a sister, Clara Ann Shultz; and granddaughters, Brandi and Candi Hostetler.

Connell is survived by her children, Alan (Sonja) Maddox, of Beaver Dam, and Teresa (Jeff) Hostetler, of Delta, Utah; grandchildren, Anthony Maddox, Aaron (Whitney) Maddox, Ashley Maddox, Jayme (Carl) Wright, Mikki (Kyle) Jensen, and Jeffrey (Chelsea) Hostetler; great-grandchildren, Payton, Makena Wright, Kyson and Leighton Jensen, and Paxton Hostetler, Gatlin Barnes, Reagan and Peyton Maggard, and Finley Maddox; and great-great grandchild, MacKensie Barnes.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all those who cared for Connell.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, at Sunnyside Cemetery, with Pastor Greg Hillard officiating.
