OWENSBORO, Ky. — Robert H. “Bobby” Pate, 75, of Owensboro, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018 . He was born Jan. 20, 1943, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late William Edward and Ola Mae Hazelwood Pate.

Bobby was retired after 31 years with Owensboro Municipal Utilities as a utility technician and was a member of Owensboro Christian Church for over 20 years where he loved helping feed families at the church community center.

At one time, Bobby had been a member of the Owensboro Jaycees, had been involved with the Soap Box Derby, and had raced stock cars. While working at O.M.U., he had served as a Daviess County Constable.

He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and riding motorcycles, and was a member of the Faith Riders Motorcycle Club.

Bobby was also preceded in death by four brothers, Charles Edward, Ovid Lee, William Earl, and Lester Ray Pate.

Surviving are his soulmate and best friend, Barbara “Bopper” Green; his son, Christopher Pate and wife, Kerensa, of Utica, Kentucky; his daughter, Jill Noelle Humphrey and husband, LaValton, of Owensboro; three grandsons, Cody (Katie) Pate, of Hartford, Kentucky, Austin Bean, of Maceo, Kentucky, and Cale Pate, of Utica; one great-grandson, Hank Henderson Pate, of Hartford; two sisters, Judy Pearl Ralph, of South Carolina, and Mary Bernice Robinson, of Lexington, Kentucky; a brother, Rudy Merle (Gwynda) Pate, of South Carolina; several members of Barbara’s family including, Sandy (Wayne) Hicks, of Owensboro, Donna Green, of Owensboro; grandson, Eric (Nikki) Moore, of Delaware; a caring friend, Bonnie Jo (Bo) O’Bryan, of Owensboro; his “Buddy” Brad Burns, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday and from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
