MORGANTOWN, Ky. — James W. Sorrels, 82, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Alive Hospice at TriStar Skyline in Madison, Tennessee. James was born March 5, 1935, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late Cecil and Edna Mae Rogers Sorrels and was husband of the late Vennie Faye Dockery Sorrels.
He was of the Baptist faith and retired from the steel mill.
Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one sister and one brother.
James W. Sorrels is survived by two sons, Don Sorrels and wife, Mindy, of Glasgow, Kentucky, and Steve Sorrels, of Valparaiso, Indiana; two daughters, Diana Byrd, of Hammond, Indiana, and Cindy Fenik and husband, Chris, of Hobart, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers Bob and Tom Sorrels; two sisters, Barbara Jo Shake and Bonnie Sharp; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Friday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m. Burial will be in the Zion Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 25, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. until funeral time at 12 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
