HARTFORD, Ky. — Senior Chief Jerry Lee Waters Sr., 75, went home to be with Jesus on Jan. 12, 2018. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, Nov. 21, 1942, to the late Rev. Melvin “Red” and Anna Lucille Waters.

Mr. Waters was a retired Navy Veteran of 28 years and taught NJROTC 10 years at Valley High School in Louisville, Kentucky, he was a member of Liberty Lighthouse Church of God in Hartford.

He loved playing the bass guitar at church. Jerry was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful brother and loving grandfather.

He was also preceded in death by a brother Charles Lindle Waters.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Elizabeth Waters; a daughter, Vicki and David Hughes, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; two sons, Billy and Libby Waters, of Beaver Dam, Jerry and Eloise Waters, of Disputanta, Virginia; stepmother, Theresa Waters, of Beaver Dam; grandchildren, David Waters, Kailyn Hughes, Kyle Hughes, Crystal (Cole) Wardrip, Amanda (Nick) Sheffield, Ashley (Ryan) Bulloch, Rebecca Waters, Madison Waters, Brock Hughes and Allie Waters; great-grandchildren, TJ and CaleighAnna Bulloch, Elijah and Oliver Sheffield, Caroline Wardrip, and Cadence Hughes; two sisters, Sherry (Jerry) Weixler, Betty (Nolan) Disney, both of Shepherdsville, Kentucky; one niece, Cheryl Weixler; four nephews, Stuart Kollenburg, Rocky Milby, Gary Milby, and Shannon Waters; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Liberty Lighthouse Church of God in Hartford with Pastor Mary Doepel officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam and 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Friday at Liberty Lighthouse Church God.
