MORGANTOWN, Ky. — Betty J. White, 85, of Morgantown, passed away Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the Signature Health Care in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Betty was born May 8, 1932, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Ira and Avie Smith Phelps and was wife of the late Theodore Dewell White.

She was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and she retired from Kellwood after 30 years.

Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers Chester, James, Albert, and Hubert Phelps, and three sisters, Mary Ruth Walls, Mae Morris, and Vernia Eastman.

Betty J. White is survived by two daughters, Darlene Morris and husband, Franklin, of Morgantown, and Zena Kay Dickey, of Pulaski, Tennessee; four sons, Theodore Dewell White Jr. and wife, Pam, of Owensboro, Kentucky, Jessie Lee White, of Morgantown, Darrell Wayne White, of Morgantown, and Glendon Earl White, of Morgantown; one brother, Glen Phelps, of Beaver Dam, Kentucky; one sister, Christine Embry, of Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Thursday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. with Bro. Gene Garner and Bro. Theodore White Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday Jan. 10, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday 8 a.m. until funeral time at 2 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Chapel.
