BUFORD, Ky. — Edward Dale Ward, 79, of the Buford Community of Ohio County, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at Owensboro Regional Hospital with his family and friends by his side. He was born on Aug. 7, 1938, in Ohio County to the late Lloyd Eldy and Martine Renfrow Ward.

Dale was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and attended No Creek United Methodist Church, he was a switchman for CSX Railroad, a member of the Joe Ellis Masonic Lodge #473 F&AM, member of Rizpah Shrine of Madisonville, Kentucky.

Dale enjoyed University of Kentucky Basketball, singing gospel music, he loved farming and his cows. Dale loved his spending time with his family and his friends.

Aside from his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Lisa Gayle Ward, and one brother, Gene Ward.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Doris Jean Ward, of Buford Community; two sons, Rick (Shelly) Ward, of Douglasville, Georgia, and Jeff (Darlena) Ward, of Hartford; one brother, Donald Ward, of Hartford, Kentucky; and sister-in-law, Jo Ward, of Hartford. Dale was blessed with four grandchildren, Nicholas (Alicia) Ward, Ande (Hallie) Ward, Jason Ward, and Sunshine (Joshua) Miller, and nine great grandchildren, Abram, Andrew, Courtney, Harrison, KayLeigh, Sebastian, Silas, Tennessee, Tucker, one on the way, and many special grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Tony St.Clair, Rev. Ron Sharp, and Rev. Chris Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in the Buford Community of Ohio County. Friends may visit with the family of Dale Ward from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic rites service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
