OWENSBORO, Ky. — Lawrence Hugh Rumage, 79, of Owensboro, passed away Nov. 20, 2017, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born on Oct. 2, 1938, in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Robert Rumage and Martine Wink Rumage.

Lawrence began his career working with his father at Rumage Grocery, and retired from IGA after working for 50 years as a butcher.

He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church, and a UK sports fan and enjoyed video games with his grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Lawrence was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice Ann Nowaski Rumage, who passed away in 2010.

He is survived by his children, Stacy Marksberry, of Owensboro, Jeff (Judy) Rumage, of Bells Run, Kentucky, Chris (Diana) Rumage of Owensboro; stepchildren, Lorry (Barry) Sapp, Sherry White, and Tennille (Steve) McIntyre, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Betty Bickett, of Rumsey, Kentucky, Genevieve “Genny” Galloway, and Robert (Mary) Rumage, of Owensboro, Norman (Linda) Rumage, of Bardstown, Kentucky, Carolyn Infanti, Ronnie (Rosemary) Rumage, of Owensboro, and Sharon (Mike) Hardin, of Fordsville, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Immaculate Catholic Church, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, with prayers being said at 6 p.m.
