OWENSBORO, Ky. — Joe Sowders, 72, of Owensboro, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at his home in Owensboro. Joseph Rogers Sowders was born June 7, 1945 in Daviess County, Kentucky, to the late Claude Thomas and Catherine Pearl Fenwick Sowders.

He was a retired industrial painter from the Painters Local #156 of Evansville and a member of the Catholic Faith. He was a member of Southern Indiana Racing Association, enjoyed John Wayne movies, NASCAR, go-kart racing, and spending time with both his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, J.W. Sowders.

Survivors include four sons and their wives, Jamie and Christa Sowders, of Owensboro, Jeff and Stacy Sowders, of Hartford, Kentucky, Chris Cook, of Rumsey, Kentucky, and Darrel and Brenda Walker, of Calhoun, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jordan Towery, Taylor Sowders, Zoie Sowders, Amelia Jo Sowders, and Vivian Sowders; a great-grandson, Corbyn Allen; a sister, Matilda Adkins, of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Friends may visit with Joe’s family from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
