Ellis ‘Eric’ Kessinger

BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Ellis “Eric” Kessinger, 49, of Beaver Dam, departed this life on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born May 19, 1968, in Hartford, Kentucky, to the late C.J. and Anna Frances Chinn Kessinger.

Eric was a retired United States Army Veteran where he proudly served his country for 28 years, as well as serving in Iraq during Desert Storm. While he was in the Army Reserves, Eric went to work at TVA, where he was employed as a safety consultant.

He was a member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church, was the deputy chief of the Beaver Dam Fire Department where he volunteered for the last six years and was a certified EMT.

Eric was preceded in death by his parents, C.J. and Anna Frances Kessinger.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Holly Phelps Kessinger, of Beaver Dam; three children, William Justin ”B.J.” Kessinger and his wife, Debra, of Hartford, Brenton Ryan “Brent” Kessinger, of Beaver Dam, and Maggie Ann Kessinger, of Beaver Dam; one granddaughter, Erica Paige Kessinger, of Hartford; two brothers, Gary (Linda) Kessinger, of Beaver Dam, and Kevin (Susie) Kessinger, of Beaver Dam; his father-inlaw, Robert Phelps and his wife, Shirley, of Cromwell, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Greg Hillard, Bro. Brian Wilson, and Rev. Wendell Sandefur officiating. Burial will follow in Slaty Creek Cemetery in Prentiss with Military Honors Provided by the Wesley Phelps Honor Guard. Friends may visit with Eric’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
