FORDSVILLE, Ky. — Gladys Bell Carter Brooks, 82, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at her home in Fordsville. She was born in McLean County, Kentucky, on July 26, 1935, to the late Arnold Carter and Maggie Myrtle Rhoades Carter.

She was homemaker and enjoyed watching game shows, working puzzles and reading.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Brooks, who passed in 1999; daughters, Debra Gail Elliott, in 2011, Pamela Pinkney, in 2009; and her grandson, Donald C. Cline, in 2016.

She is survived by her children, Robert Brooks (Sharon), Peggy Dennis, and Michael Wayne Brooks; siblings, Arnold Carter Jr., J.D. Carter, Billy Carter, and Anne Haines; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be Oct. 12, at 10 a.m. at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory and Thursday 8:30 a.m until 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial to follow in New Cypress Cemetery.
