BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Calvin Middleton Jr., 93, of Beaver Dam, passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Verda, Kentucky, to the late Calvin Middleton Sr. and Ollie Hall Middleton.
Mr. Middleton retired from Peabody Coal Company working for River Queen and Sinclair Mines and was a member of UMWA 1605.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in Germany and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Middleton was also a member of VFW Post 5478.
Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Marie Leitch Middleton; and son, James Middleton.
Survivors include two sons, Troy Middleton, of Beaver Dam, Walter (Linda) Trent, of Beaver Dam; two grandchildren, Douglas Trent Jr., and Deirdre Melissa (Tim) Puckett; two great-grandchildren, Derek Steven Trent, and Erika De-Ann Bennett; and two great-great-grandchildren, Daisy Marie Trent and Dante Trent.
Private Family Services will be held at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam.
