HARTFORD, Ky. — James Everett Johnson, 87, of Hartford, entered into rest on Monday, July 24, 2017, at his residence. He was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Ohio County, Kentucky, to the late Everett and Sarah E. Voyles Johnson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean War and a retired maintenance carpenter for the Kentucky Department of Transportation.

Mr. Johnson was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Beaver Dam where he served as deacon for many years.

Aside from his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Mae Johnson; second wife, Edna Pearl Johnson; son, Leland Gregory Johnson; and daughter, Brenda Goodman.

Survivors include his children, Jeanne Marie (Ronnie) Embry, of Hartford, and James Ray (Robin) Johnson, of Hartford. He was blessed with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Bro. Matt Alsman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Gathering of family and friends will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
