BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Lloyd Jesse Sims, 87, of Beaver Dam, departed this life on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at his home. He was born in Folsomville, Ind., to the late Jesse and Gertrude Rouser Sims.

Lloyd was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and a lifetime member Beaver Dam Masonic Lodge #420 F&AM. Mr. Sims served in the United States Army and was retired from Peabody Coal Company after 42 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted wife of 65 years, who passed away on Jan. 31 of this year; three brothers, Murrel Sims, Johnnie Sims and Louis Sims; and one sister, Ruby Barnett.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory four children, David Sims and his wife, Sheila, Mark Sims and his wife, Kellye, Mary Ann Everley and her husband, Woody, and Becky Cox, all of Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren, Michelle Everley Porter and husband, Chuck, of Franklin, Ky., Ben Everley, of Beaver Dam, Lara Everley Batts, of Hartford, Ky., Scott David Sims, of Owensboro, Ky., Luke Sims, of Roanoke, Va., Logan Sims, of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jared Cox, of Horse Branch, Ky., and Jennifer Cox, of Central City, Ky.; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen Barclay, of Evansville, Ind.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. John Cashion and Dr. Glenn Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. Friends may visit with Mr. Sims’ family from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
