McKENZIE, Tenn. — Essie Allen Hohimer, 87, of McKenzie, formerly of Hartford, Ky., passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017, at her residence. She was born Sept. 11, 1929, in Hartford to the late C.C. and Eltie Turner Neighbors.
She was a member of the McKenzie Church of God and a retired CNA and medication tech for Miller’s Merry Manor.
Mrs. Hohimer enjoyed cooking, camping, sewing, church, and family activities.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Cecil “Money” Hohimer Sr., and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include five children, Melinda (Tom) Dailey, of McKenzie, Vernon Cecil Hohimer Jr., of Hartford, Patricia Kay (Marvin) Everts, of Leitchfield, Ky., Cathy Melissa (Terry) Carroll, of McKenzie, and Terry Wayne (Wendy) Hohimer, of Hartford; one stepson, Jim (Cindy) Hohimer, of McHenry, Ky.; and one sister, Reba Schroader, of Louisville, Ky. Mrs. Hohimer is blessed with 17 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 11, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Tim Smith and Rev. Murrell Meredith officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family of Essie Allen Hohimer from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. Saturday and from 9a.m. until time of service Sunday at the funeral home.
