CENTERTOWN, Ky. — Virginia Sue Baize, 75, of Centertown, died on May 25, 2017, at the Hospice House in Lecanto Fla. Virginia was born in Centertown to the late Gilbert and Grace Jane Daugherty Barrett.

She worked as an LPN off and on through the years at the local nursing homes and hospitals.

She was a member of the Echols Church of God. Virginia and her husband Chester served as foster parents in Hancock County, Ky., throughout the years for over 100 children.

Virginia also served as a Girl Scout leader in the community when her daughter Susan was young. Virginia loved her children unconditionally.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Baize; a daughter, Cynthia Gail; a brother, Billy Ray; and three sisters, Lilly Rose, Seville Green, and Ruby Gail.

Survivors include three sons, William Allan, of Henderson, Ky., Gregory Lee, of Owensboro, Ky., Patrick O’Neil, of Leesburg, Fla.; two daughters, Susan Denise Gibson, of Hernando, Fla., and Faye Franklin, of Ider, Ala.; two brothers, Martin Barrett, of Indiana, and James Woodford Barrett, of Centertown; one sister, Mary Earlene Hamilton, of Centertown; two sisters-in-law, Betty Fleener of Indiana, and Ruby Bolton, of Louisville, Ky.; 17 grandchildren, Kimberly, Aaron, Sean, Tanaya, Greg Jr., Andrew, Alethea, Brandon, Leaness, Neva, Evan, Frankie, Ryan, Sierra, Madison, Megan, and Cody; 16 great-grandchildren, Breanna, Wyatt, Bradon, Gabriel, Catherine, Analess, Hunter, Abigail, Aden, Braxton, Navin, Cyrah, Mina, Lucian, Aleena, and one on the way.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, at the Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Ky. With Bro. Larry Sosh officiating and a graveside service to follow at the Centertown Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A reception for family and friends will be held after the graveside service at the Church of God in Echols, Ky. The Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam will be in charge of arrangements.
