ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Mildred Embry Nelson, 91, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hartford, Ky., passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Signature HealthCare in Hartford. She was born April 20, 1926, in Wysox Community of Ohio County, Ky., to the late Robert Lee “Bob” and Evie Felty Embry.
Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of Hartford High School where she was salutatorian, member of Howe Valley United Methodist Church in Cecilia, Ky., and she was a retired office manager for Elizabethtown Sport Wear.
Aside from her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Lee Nelson, who passed away on April 14, 1990.
Survivors include two sisters, Virginia White, of Hartford, and Louise Foreman, of OwensboroKy.; two brothers, Odrey (Cova) Embry, of Utica, Ky., and Carroll (Sharon) Embry, of Fairfield, Texas. Mrs. Nelson was blessed with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, with Rev. Gary Hardin officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Friends may visit with the family of Mildred Nelson from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, Saturday at the funeral home.
