BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Ruby Abbott Porter, 100, of Beaver Dam, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at her daughter’s residence. She was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Quality, Ky., to the late Virge Abbott and Novella Staples Abbott.
Mrs. Porter was a member of Cool Springs Baptist Church in Beaver Dam and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman H. Porter; daughter, Helen Gardner; two sisters; one brother; and one son-in-law, Billy DeArmond.
Survivors include five children, Carrie DeArmond, of Shepherdsville, Ky., Jeanetta (Roger) Nance, of Dixon, Ky., Walter (Carolyn) Porter, of Beaver Dam, Keith (Linda) Porter, of Beaver Dam, and JoAnn (John T.) Ashby, of Hartford, Ky.; 36 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Jerry Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Friends may visit Mrs. Porter’s family from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
