BEAVER DAM, Ky. — Ellis Ray Chinn, 64, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in Owensboro, Ky. He was born on Dec. 5, 1952, in Prentiss, Ky., to the late Frewin and Lena Mae Haven Chinn.

Mr. Chinn was a self-employed contractor and a member of Slaty Creek Baptist Church in Prentiss, a Kentucky Colonel, and member of the Coon Hunters Club. He served in the United States Army and rode in the Professional Rodeo Circuit as a bareback bronc rider in the 1980’s.

Mr. Chinn was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gabriel Shaffer Chinn; five brothers, Thomas Wayne Chinn, Paul Michael Chinn, Bronson Chinn, Frewin Chinn Jr. and Frank Chinn; and two sisters, Katherine Garner and Laura Ann Birge.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Chinn, of Beaver Dam; seven sons, Allen Chinn, of Hartford, Ky., Cody Chinn, of Kennesaw, Ga., Adam Chinn, of Beaver Dam, Josh Engle, of New York, Jacob Chinn, of Beaver Dam, Tommy Chinn, of Beaver Dam, and Matthew Chinn, of Beaver Dam; four daughters, Valerie Gilbert, of New York, Shyler Jo Chinn, of Beaver Dam, Rebecca Chinn, of Beaver Dam, and Natalie Chinn, of Beaver Dam; one grandson, Jeffery Thomas Chinn; one brother, James A. “Jim” (Ellen) Chinn, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Linda Taylor, of Beaver Dam, Debra Chinn, of Hartford, and Lillian Mae Songer, of Holland, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Glenn Armstrong officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. Friends may visit with Mr. Chinn’s family from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
