NorvillSimmonsNorvill Simmons, 82, of Greenville, Ky., passed away on his 82nd birthday, Saturday, May 9, 2015, at The Heartford House, in Owensboro, Ky. He was born to the late Arthur and Malissie Moxley Simmons, on May 9, 1933, in Ohio County, Ky.

He was a faithful and loving husband, father, brother, and friend, and will be forever known for his special sense of humor!

Norvill was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville, Ky., where he served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was employed by Texas Gas Transmissions for 27 years. He loved all things outdoors – camping, fishing, gardening, riding his Gator, and especially his morning coffee run to McDonald’s with his beloved pet, Coco.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ivy Lee, Charles and Leonard Simmons; and sisters, Virginia Murphy, Mary Conley and Hazel Jacob.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Donna Phillips Simmons, of Greenville, Ky.; two sons, David (Tracy) Simmons, of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Larry (Vickie) Simmons, of Greenville, Ky.; one daughter, Penny Renee Simmons, of Greenville, Ky., three grandsons, Drew Simmons, of Madisonville, Ky., Nathan Simmons, of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Dylan Simmons, of Lexington, Ky.; two sisters, Faye Keown, of Gonzalez, La., and Nancy (Bob) Wilson, of Hartford, Ky.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 12, at 1 p.m. from Roland Memorial Baptist Church in Greenville, Ky., by Reverend James Doyel and assisted by Reverend Danny Mooneyhan. Burial with military honors will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville, Ky.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, Ky., and on Tuesday after 11 a.m. until service time at Roland Memorial Baptist Church.
