ShonieColemanSurfronia Mae “Shonie” Coleman, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at her home after a short illness. Shonie was born March 14, 1930, in Centertown, Ky.

Shonie worked for seven years at G.E. in Owensboro and for 16 years at Montpelier Glove Company. Shonie served her church, Centertown United Methodist Church, for many years as treasurer and as representative to the United Methodist Conference. She enjoyed being a member of the United Methodist Women and Centertown and Matanzas Homemakers.

She was preceded in death by her son, Harold Blaine Coleman; her parents, Opal Kimbley and Donald Gill Maddox; four brothers, Eugene Hill, Carl Maddox, Curtis Maddox and Donald Maddox; two sisters, Mary Kay Maddox and Marie Rowe.

Shonie is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harold “Chick” Coleman; one daughter-in-law, Terry Coleman; one daughter, Vicki (Ken) Snarr; two sons, Dennis (Alisa) Coleman and Joe (Edie) Coleman; nine grandchildren, Chad (Natalie) Coleman, Robin (Jason) Patterson, Chris (Ann) Snarr, Laura (Bryan) Burns, Ben Snarr, Taylor (Charlie) Orihuela, Alexis Coleman, Atticus (Ashley) Coleman and Ivy Coleman; 15 great-grandchildren Max, Mason & Mya Coleman, Blaine, Levi and Sherry Patterson, Chase and Porter Snarr, Preston, Carter and Eli Burns, Ryder and Emory Coleman, Noah Orihuela and Asa Coleman.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 17, at 2 p.m. at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Bro. Mike Taylor officiating. Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant Methodist Cemetery in the Matanzas Community. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
