She grew up in Beech Creek in Muhlenberg County before moving to Owensboro at age 21. She married James P. Dwyer in 1946 and remained a devoted wife for 53 years until his death in 1999. They had two cherished daughters, Peggy Meece (Jeff), of Lexington, Ky., and Gay Dwyer, of Frankfort, Ky.

Aunt Sally celebrated her 100th birthday with a December party attended by many special family members and friends. Sally loved life and was a great friend to many during her lifetime including her long-time best friend, Evelyn Newman. Other special friends always included neighbors in Owensboro and Versailles, along with members of her Sunday School class at Yellow Creek Baptist Church where Sally held the distinction of being the oldest member in the church. After residing in Owensboro for 73 years, she moved to Versailles in 2008 to be closer to her daughters. She has been a blessing and a pleasure to her family through every step of her journey.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Ila May Carlin, of Peoria, Ill.; Adell Goff, of Beaver Dam, Ky.; Gordon Bowers, of Orlando, Fla.; Bill Bowers, West Carrollton, Ohio; and Marjorie Mallory, Beech Creek, Ky.

Sally was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother to two much loved granddaughters, Jennifer Montfort (Chris), of Woodstock, Ga., and Jamie Kopp (Jeff), of Lexington, and three great-granddaughters, Kennedy Laine Montfort and Lexie Paige Montfort, of Woodstock, Ga., and one-year old Campbell Elizabeth Kopp, of Lexington. Sally is survived by her two youngest siblings, Bob Bowers (Sandy), of Belview, Fla., and Sue Gill (Bobby), of Dayton, Ohio.

The family is especially grateful for the loving and compassionate care provided by Joan Dunn and Connie Bates in caring for Sally.
