Evelyn R. Ferguson McCarty, 84, of Owensboro, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at Hillcrest Health Care. She was born in Ohio County, on March 28, 1930, to late Forrest Renfrow and Maymee Allen Renfrow.
She retired as a factory worker from from General Electric Company and was a member of Church of Christ in Renfrow, Ky. She enjoyed dealing in antiques, attending auctions and yard sales. She also was an avid UK fan.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. McCarty, in 1993; a brother, Forest Odell Renfrow; and a sister, Imogene Renfrow Ford.
She is survived by a daughter, Patti A. Lewis, of Owensboro; a son, Roger (Betty) Ferguson, of Horse Branch, Ky; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
