Fred Joseph Gamble, 91 of Beaver Dam, Ky., died on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at the Beaver Dam Nursing and Rehab. Joe was born Dec. 16, 1923, in Mecca, Ind., to the late Bessie and Charles Gamble.
He was retired from Associated Grocers in Salt Lake City, Utah. Joe was also a proud World War II Navy veteran and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, traveling, cooking and writing poems and songs.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Wyatte, Charles, and Robert Gamble; also two sisters, Helen Gamble and Kate Gill.
Survivors include four sons, Michael J. Gamble, of Washington, Utah, David A. Gamble (Vicki), of Winston, Ore., Charles E. Gamble (Valerie), of Rivera, Texas, and Wyatte J. Gamble, of Kearns, Utah; three daughters, Chaunta Himes (David), of Cromwell, Ky., Valerie J. Ferguson (Mark) of Smithville, Mo., and Maureen Westerfield (Jerry), of Beaver Dam, Ky.; two step-daughters, Lareese Burroughs, and Linda Baker; and one step-son Dean Howe. Joe had 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, Kentucky on Friday Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. with Brother James Wiles officiating. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until funeral time. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Ky., with military honors by the Ohio County Honor Guard.
