Margaret Meredith, 97, formerly of Semiway, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her home in Beaver Dam, where she was a resident at Dogwood Estates for the past seven years. Margaret Riley was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Nashville, Tenn., to the late Noel and Mary Cronk Riley and was married to Leonard Owen Meredith.
During that time, she was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Linda and several very special ladies/sitters.She was a homemaker, managed her family farm after her husband’s death for several years, and a member of the Christian Church. Margaret was a wonderful cook, had a way with flowers, and enjoyed caring for her dogs. Margaret had a beautiful home and her yard was always in bloom. She loved to shop in Owensboro with her daughters, Mary Lynn and Linda, for pretty things for her home and plants for the yard.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Meredith, who died Feb. 16, 1975; by a daughter, Mary Lynn; and by five siblings, William Riley, Marian Pierson, James Riley, Eugene Riley, and Milton Riley.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Linda and Kenny Wiggins of Hartford; three grandchildren, Leonard Wiggins and wife, Dinah, of Paonia, Colo., Steve Wiggins and wife, Tanya, and Karen Bickett and husband, Gary, both of Owensboro; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Calhoun Cemetery with the Rev. Myke Templeton officiating. Friends may visit with Margaret’s family from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel.
