Velma Dale Barnard, 88, of Central City, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at 5 p.m. at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Mrs.Barnard was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Spring Lick, Ky.
She was a homemaker and a faithful and dedicated member of Temple Baptist Church in Central City. Mrs. Barnard was a devoted and loving wife for 67 years to Linnie Barnard and she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Linnie Barnard; son, Delbert Clay Barnard; parents, Avery Clay and Tassie Gaither; brothers and sisters, Red Gaither, Hontus Gaither, Margorie Krickobich, Richard Gaither, Ralph Gaither, James Gaither and Mandy Gaither.
Survivors include her son, Barry (Charlotte) Barnard of Central City; granddaughter, Shawna (Kevin) Gray of Central City; grandson, Blake Barnard of Central City; great-grandson, Lane Gray of Central City; brothers and sisters, Gene (Evelyn) Gaither, Lorine (Jamie) Reid, Jack (Neila) Gaither, Joe (Trish) Gaither and Barbara (Dan) Quisenberry.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 18, at 11 a.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Adam Brown, Rev. Charles Gresham and Rev. E.W. Greenwalt. Burial in Central Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
