SuzanneHarwoodCrowderSuzanne Harwood Crowder, 73, of Olaton, Ky., passed away on Monday, June 2, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Oct. 23, 1940, in Haddon Heights, N.J., to the late Donald Graham and Ellen Bridge Graham.

Sue was a graduate of Glassboro State College (Rowan University) where she earned a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. She was a retired school teacher having taught for many years in New Jersey and Kentucky. She was a member of Masonville United Methodist Church and attended Fairview Baptist Church. Following retirement Sue volunteered for more than 15 years at Owensboro Medical Health System where she was a lifetime member of the Auxiliary and served as vice president for a year. Sue was also a member of Otha Daniel Homemakers Club. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed gardening, reading, riding horses and spending time with her grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick Harwood and one daughter, Joanne Harwood who passed away in 1990.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Phillip Crowder of Olaton; one son, Donald Harwood (Shelley) of Owensboro; two stepdaughters, Julie Nance of Beaver Dam and Anita Bowlds (Marty) of Olaton; eight grandchildren, Josh, Jessie and Cody Harwood, Jonathan, Emma and Caroline Nance, and Drake and Tanner Bowlds; one brother, Don Graham (Paula) of Haddon Heights, New Jersey; sisters-/brothers-in-law, Ann Gatz (Bob) of Midlothian, Va., Teresa Wright of Greenville, S.C., Sharon Gilburd (David) of Alvaton, Ky., and Steve Crowder (Gerry) of Olaton; several nieces and nephews and her cat Tom-Tom.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Jason Bratcher officiating with Pastor Marty Bowlds assisting. Burial will follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.  Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at  the funeral home.
