Fred C. Allen, 75, of Beaver Dam, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 18, 1938, in Hartford, Ky., to the late Beldon and Minnie Bunger Allen.
He was a member of Hartford Christian Church and he was a retired coal miner for Peabody Coal Company. Fred enjoyed playing bluegrass and country music.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Lynn Ray Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Maureta Stewart Allen; one son, Randy (Ann) Allen of Rockport, Ind.; six daughters, Sandy (Tony) Wilkenson of Rockport, Ind., Wendy (Brian) Mayes of Elberfield, Ind., Rhonda (Jeremy) Garrison of Morgantown, Shawn (Joey) Vincent of Beaver Dam, Shannon Allen of Morganfield, and Doris (Roy) Inhulsen of Centertown; and one brother, Harold “Shorty” (Linda) Allen of Hartford. Fred was blessed with 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam, with Les Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.
