Jonell McCoy McClanahan, 83, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Monday, May 5, 2014, at Dogwood Estates in Beaver Dam. She was born March 9, 1931, in Rockport, Ky., to the late James Elbert McCoy and Elsie Johnson McCoy.
Mrs. McClanahan retired after working as an License Practical Nurse at several area health facilities. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church, Ohio County Quilter Guild and Ohio County Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Walton Harris, Sr., on April 7, 1983; her second husband, Kenneth A. McClanahan, on Oct. 1, 2003, and one son, Stephen Walton Harris, in August 1955.
Survivors include three sons, Jimi Harris (Lydonna) of Hartford, Jeff Harris (Bea) of Morganfield and John Harris of Owensboro; one daughter, Tracy Desper of Hawesville; eight grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Bullock (Eddie) of Merissa, Illinois and Gail Fulton of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Richards officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford, Kentucky.
