Albert Clay Barnett, 86, of Hartford, Ky., passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Ohio County Hospital. He was born in Owensboro, Ky., on March 12, 1928, to the late Sam Barnett and Arsula Spencer Barnett.

Mr. Barnett retired from May Brothers Concrete Company in Owensboro as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a member of Barnett’s Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Alliene Barnett on Dec. 28, 2007; one brother, Pete Barnett and two sisters, Susie Belle Allen and Jean Heifner.

Survivors include one son, Skip Richardson (Gena) of Hartford; one daughter, Deborah Boone (Robert) of Owensboro; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Bobby Barnett of Hartford, Roy Barnett of Whitesville, Ky., Coy Barnett and Wayne Barnett both of Hartford and four sisters, Dorothy Ralph of Hartford, Faye Kessinger of Owensboro, Connie Sue Cockrell of Mosleyville, Ky., and Ernestine Allen of Boonville, Ind.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Rev. Raymond Ward officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Utica, Ky.
