ThelmaLouiseHessThelma Louise Hess, 86, of Beaver Dam, Ky., passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. Louise was born Oct. 15, 1927, in the community of Heflin to Glenn and Lottie Bennett Higgs.

Louise worked at Thomas Industries and the Hartford Dairy Queen. She was a very strong willed woman and she spent most of her life taking care of others.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hess; their son, Jeffrey Scott Hess and her sister, Glenda B. Chinn.

She was a member of the Baptist faith and loved to Louise resided most of her life in the Beda area where she raised five children who survive her: Eddie (Charlotte) Hendricks of Hartford; Mike (Beverly) Hendricks of Watertown, Wisc.; Jerry (Vicki) Hendricks of Hartford; Susan Hart of Lebanon, Tenn.; and Debbie (Mike) Siler of Hartford.

Also surviving include: grandchildren, Todd (Sheila) Hendricks, Chris Siler, Sarah Newton, Katie (Ryan) Childers, Shelley (Jason) Sommers, Carey (Jeremy) Aldridge, Pam Hendricks, Nicole (Rusty) Shultz, Jennifer (Nate) Lawrence, Brandon Hart, Mallory Hart and Nathan Hendricks; 17 great-grandchildren and two nieces.

A memorial service will be held at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford on Tuesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
