Mary Alvey Petty, 74, of Beaver Dam, Ky., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at her residence. She was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Ohio County, Ky., to the late Harvey Harrison Alvey and Ruby Lee Brown Alvey.
Mrs. Petty was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Horse Branch.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mamie Rose Alvey on March 1, 1951, Virginia Alvey Sutton on Dec. 4, 1975, and Loretta Ann Alvey Ward on May 26, 2005.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley “Moe” Petty, Jr., of Beaver Dam; three brothers, John W. “Sonny” Alvey and his wife, Donna, of Beaver Dam, David “Butch” Alvey and his wife, Margaret, of Hartford, Harrison L. Alvey and his wife, Vicki, of Hartford; one sister, Mildred N. Daniel of Hartford and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky., with Bro. Glen Geary and David Simpson officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford.
