Russell James “Russ” Allen, 66, of Hartford passed on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Owensboro Health Regional Hosptial. He was born in Daviess County to the late Billy W. and Helen James Allen.
Russ was a loving father and grandfather, he was retired from River Queen Mine UMWA Local #1178 and a member of Hartford Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years Roxanne Oldham Allen; two daughters, Christina (Jon) Saling of Centertown and Kim Allen of Eddyville; one sister, Terry Allen Coleman of Centertown; four grandchildren, Charlie and Audrey Saling and Marty Dockery, Jr. and Aaron Dockery and great-grandson, Joshua Dockery.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam with Rev. Ed Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Hartford. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Hartford Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
