Sam Pirtle, 78, of Murfreesboro passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at his home. He was a longtime resident of Beaver Dam. Mr. Pirtle was born in Medon, Tenn., to the late Robert Sidney Pirtle and Nannie Lou Brown Pirtle.
He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church and Bel Aire Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Earlene Pirtle.
He is survived by his daughters, Carrie (Jeff) Platt of Murfreesboro and Kelly (Kelly) Hester of Beechgrove; grandchildren, Natalie Hester and Brian Hester; brother, James R. (Gayle) Pirtle of Memphis and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 17, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Murfreesboro Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Murfreesboro Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Clardy officiating. Graveside will be at Sunnyside Cemetery, Beaver Dam, Ky., will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. with burial to follow.
